Cool stuff: Innovative air conditioning brings cost and environmental savings

The installation of new energy efficient air conditioning systems at the Clarence Valley Council’s two main offices in Grafton (2 Prince Street and 42 Victoria Street) will result in energy and operational savings of up to 40% and other environmental benefits. Further operational and environmental savings are to be made through the closure of council offices at 70 Pound Street, Grafton. Staff from the Pound Street office has been relocated into the other two offices. Mayor, Richie Williamson, said there would be savings in energy cost savings through the introduction of more energy efficient systems, and additional benefits through the removal of an ageing cooling tower and ozone depleting R22 refrigerants. The ‘Energy Ingenuity’ project was supported with funding of $440,568 from the Commonwealth Government and a $293,713 contribution from council. Further information about the project as well as supporting resources is available at www.clarence.nsw.gov.au.
