Community’s gift of warmth

Capture   Lynne Mowbray To recognise Homelessness Prevention Week last week, two South Grafton community groups banded together to host a yarn bomb – which encouraged the community to donate a knitted scarf, beanie, socks, gloves or any knitted item for those less fortunate in our community, to help keep them warm during winter. Clarence Valley Waste Not Want Not and the New School of Arts (NSOA) got together after someone posted the yarn bomb idea on the Waste Not Want Not, Facebook site. The knitted winter woollies were displayed along a wire fence along Skinner Street, with a sign encouraging the needy in the community to help themselves to a gift of warmth. A community lunch was also held on Friday, at the South Grafton New School of Arts, in Skinner Street, South Grafton, to coincide with the yarn bomb event.
