Clarence Valley comes together for Anzac Day

Emma Pritchard

On April 25, communities across the Clarence Valley came together to commemorate Anzac Day and pay their respects on the 108th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli during World War I while also remembering the thousands of Australians who have served, and tragically lost their lives, in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations through the years.

From Iluka, Yamba, and Maclean, to Lawrence, Grafton, and Glenreagh, wreaths were gently laid beneath cenotaphs, prayers were read, Australian flags flew proudly, and The Last Post sounded solemnly as crowds bowed their heads in a united show of respect and repeated three words.

Lest we forget.

  • Due to printing deadlines, a full coverage of the 2023 Anzac Day services throughout the Clarence Valley will feature in the May 3 edition of the Clarence Valley Independent. For the latest news and updates, please visit our website clarencevalleynews.com.au and Facebook page.
