Changed traffic conditions on Iolanthe Street in South Grafton

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from next week on Iolanthe Street in South Grafton as part of the new Grafton bridge project.

Traffic will be moved to the outer lanes of Iolanthe Street from Tuesday 24 March and barriers placed down the middle of the street, for the installation of two additional traffic lights in the central median.

This will allow the project team to start building a central concrete median in Iolanthe Street and a central concrete median in Spring Street, near the BP driveway.

The existing pedestrian crossing in Iolanthe Street will be moved slightly towards the Hungry Jack’s/BP area.

From Friday 27 March the barriers will be extended along Iolanthe Street and Spring Street as work to build the concrete medians begins.

From this time drivers entering and exiting businesses in Iolanthe Street will no longer be permitted to turn right. This is consistent with the final traffic arrangement when the roundabout in South Grafton is complete.

“Left turn only” signs will be temporarily placed on business driveways to ensure motorists are aware of the new arrangements until the concrete median is complete.

Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and is expected to be complete by Friday 3 April, weather permitting.

The pedestrian crossing signals will be switched on between Monday 6 and Friday 10 April.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
