Changed traffic conditions and night work for Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade

Changed traffic conditions continue this week on the Pacific Highway to progress the Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade. From Monday 2 July, there will be a reduced speed limit of up to 40km/h, lane closures and short stoppages on the Pacific Highway at Glenugie for work which includes line marking and installing safety barriers. This work will be carried out between 6.30am and 6pm. From Monday 2 July, four nights of work will be carried out on the Pacific Highway, Mororo. Work will include installing traffic barriers at the intersection of Tullymorgan-Jackybulbin Road and building emergency stopping bays on the highway. At each location, there will be a lane closure and traffic control to direct motorists. From Monday 2 July, four nights of work will be carried out on the highway between Devils Pulpit and Woodburn. Work will be carried out between 6pm and 6am and includes removing wire rope and safety barriers and carrying out resealing of the road surface and line marking. There will be lane closures and motorists should follow the direction of traffic control. From Tuesday 3 July, two nights of work will be carried out on the highway between Whytes Lane and Pimlico Road, Pimlico to prepare for a temporary traffic change. Work will include line marking and installing traffic barriers. On Thursday 5 July, northbound and southbound traffic will be switched from the existing highway onto the new section of road. This temporary traffic arrangement will remain in place until the project is complete and will allow the highway to maintain capacity while soft soil treatment work and construction of the new southbound carriageway is carried out. From Wednesday 4 July, two nights of work will be carried out on the Pacific Highway, Chatsworth between 6pm and 6am. Work will include traffic barrier removal near Carrolls Lane. There will be no roadwork carried out on the highway between Kew and the Queensland border from 6am Friday 6 July to 6am Monday 9 July due to the high traffic volumes expected for the NSW school holidays. Emergency maintenance and safety repair work will be carried out as required during this period. Additional changes to local roads A section of Wardell Road near Thurgates Lane, Wardell has been reduced to one lane with traffic lights for about five weeks. This will allow the project team to finish installing a fauna crossing culvert. Last week’s scheduled switch onto a new section of Woodburn Evans Head Road, Woodburn did not take place due to wet weather. Roads and Maritime will notify the community when this work is rescheduled. For the safety of workers and motorists, reduced speed limits and traffic control will be in place on the highway, local roads and access roads. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control as short delays are expected at most locations.
