Changed boating conditions on Clarence River at Grafton

Boaters are reminded to keep clear of a section of the Clarence River upstream from Duke Street this weekend for the safe staging of a dragon boat regatta. Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence to host the regatta on Saturday 31 October between 1pm and 4pm and on Sunday 1 November between 8am and 5pm. On Saturday the event area will be established on the Clarence River from near Duke Street to about 3.5 kilometres upstream. On Sunday an exclusive use area will apply about 500 metres along the river from near Duke Street and upstream about 500 metres. The event area will be marked with inflatable buoys and monitored by control vessels. Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the marked area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer. Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in vessels smaller than 4.8 metres when alone, at night or offshore.
