Celebrating 150 years

cvi   In the lead up to the 150th year anniversary celebrations of Palmers Island Public School, we are inviting students, staff, parents, families, friends and community members who wish to help us commemorate this milestone to get involved. We want you to help us celebrate. There are a number of opportunities for you to assist us in celebrating the anniversary of the school. Formal celebrations will take place on Saturday the 1st of October at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. The formal dinner will begin at 6pm. The cost of the event is $40 per person, which includes an entree and main meal. To purchase your tickets, you can phone Palmers Island Public School on 6646 0114. We invite everyone to also join us the day after the dinner on Sunday the 2nd of October at Palmers Island Public School, as we will be holding a festival with lots of food, fun, and celebrations. Current students from the school will be performing musical entertainment, along with a historic walk and yummy food to indulge in. If you can’t make it to either of these events, yet you still wish to contribute towards the celebrations of the anniversary of the school, you can also buy a paver! We are creating a historical path at the school and you can purchase a paver and be part of the path that will remain at the school. A single paver costs $30 and you can choose to either have an engraved or hand drawn design on the paver to mark your lasting record of support. To purchase a paver, you can download a form from our facebook page titled “Palmers Island Public School – Celebrating 150 Years”, or email 150yearsofpips@gmail.com, or simply phone the school. Alternatively, we are also selling tea towels as memorabilia of the event, and are also gathering stories to contribute to a 150 year book. If you or someone who know would like to contribute to the book and has a story to tell, please also phone the school or send an email to150yearsofpips@gmail.com If you would like to get involved with helping to run the celebrations, our dedicated committee meets regularly at the school, with the next meeting scheduled for Wednesday the 27th at 5:30pm in the school library. We hope to see you there. For further updates, keep a close eye on on our Facebook page and also our school website located at http://www.palmersisl-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/
