Harwood Cricket Club’s Carly Leeson is still on a high after being selected in November to play in the ‘The Sydney Sixers’ Women’s Big Bash League, in December and January. Carly said that the team played 16 games, against seven other teams, over the two months of competition. “We were based in Sydney but travelled to Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, to compete,” said Carly. “It was definitely an exciting time and a great opportunity.” Carly who was selected just prior to her 18th birthday, was the youngest member of the Sixers squad. “Coming from the country it was a surprise to be selected, especially at a young age,” she said. “Our team went on to win, after we beat Perth in the finals. “I had great team mates and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to learn off the older players in the team.” Carly is about to head off to Sydney after being accepted into the University of NSW, to study Environmental Management. “I’m hopeful that I can get another opportunity next year to join the team,” she said.
