Call to action for Clarence Valley community groups

It’s time for community groups to start planning the dates for their events or initiatives because applications for Round 1 of the Clarence Valley Council’s 2016/17 Community Initiatives Program opens next week. The council’s social and cultural services manager, Judy Banko, said that last year council launched its new online SmartyGrants system with great success. “We will use that process again this year, so organisations seeking support under the program will need to lodge applications via the SmartyGrants link at www.clarence.nsw.gov.au/smartygrants,” she said. “Everyone is welcome to attend the SmartyGrants application workshops for not-for-profit organisations or individuals at the Grafton Community & Function Centre on February 9 and the council’s Maclean office on February 10 – each from 9:30am. “The workshops will be fun and interactive and will help groups transition to the new system. Our community projects officer will also be available to offer ongoing individual support via phone, email or in person. “Don’t forget: multiple event or initiative dates are permissible, but only one application will be accepted per financial year. Please read the Community Initiatives Program guidelines & donations policy on council’s website before applying.”
