Call for Vietnam Veterans

To acknowledge the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War the Maclean RSL sub-Branch invites Vietnam veterans and their families to lead this year’s Anzac Day parade through Maclean.

As always vintage and ex-military vehicles will join the parade to transport less able veterans.

The parade will form up near the SPAR in Maclean at 10.30am with the main service commencing at the war memorial at 11.00am. Dawn services will also be held in Maclean, Iluka and Chatsworth Island at 5.30am and Yamba at 5.45am. A sunset service at the Maclean Showground will take place at 5pm.

This year a professional photographer has been engaged to capture the images of all of our local veterans. Anyone who has served in the Australian Defence Force is invited to have their portrait taken at the Maclean Bowling Club from 11.30 am to 1.30pm on Anzac Day. Leave your details and photos will be sent to you free of charge.

While it is anticipated that there will be an RAAF flyover of Clarence Valley commemorations, we are yet to receive confirmation of timings. More information on this and other Anzac Day activities will be posted on the Maclean RSL sub-Branch Facebook page.
