This month we played the final round of our club championships, at the Coutts Crossing course.
Many a player has remarked about the abundance of trees on the Orara Park course and how they can hinder the golfer. Well Greg decided he was going to use the local flora to his advantage and managed to bring his ball to rest in the woody embrace of a bottlebrush off the 6th fairway. Dare I say he used his “tree” wood for the following shot.
The winner on the day was John Pepper; coming in second was Janine Purdy; third was Mick Agresta.
Nearest to pins went to John Pepper and Ethan Purdy.
Brad the goose gets the pleasure of spending the month with Revee West. So I’m sure he will be begging for a change of venue next month.
Our next game will be on September 17 up at the big course. This will be our annual memorial day for our late great mate, Doug Purtill. Anyone who knew Doug is welcome to come along and join us in celebrating a true Australian larrikin, taken from us too soon.
