The countdown clock is ticking with the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter’s annual Rescue Day appeal on Friday the 12th August is Rescue Day which is marked by the wearing of the Service’s iconic red and yellow propeller hats which can be bought on the day. To help sell these special hats as well as other merchandise and assist with the acceptance of donations, the Service is seeking the help of local hero’s to register and become a volunteer for the day. Fundraising Manager for the rescue helicopters, Zeke Huish commented “Rescue Day is a special day each year for the Service and the support of volunteers will help to ensure that more towns and villages across our region can be part of the fun”. “As a local charity that is not fully funded, it is days like Rescue Day that play an important role in helping us to save lives” remarked Mr Huish. To become a Rescue Day volunteer you can contact the Lismore based service on 02 6627 4444 or for more information on Rescue Day visit rescueday.com.au
