Annual Uke Hop wrap up

The Grafton Ukettes held their annual Uke Hop last weekend at the Grafton District Services Club (GDSC).

This is the 3rd year the Grafton Ukettes have hosted the Hop.

This year saw a change of venue, with the event taking place at the GDSC.

Ukettes spokesperson Madge Little said that the GDSC were very supportive of the event.

“The GDSC has supported the Hop very well with no charges, excellent catering and lots of help from the staff,” Madge said.

“Buckley’s Music Group (BMG) provided the sound equipment and we have to say a huge thanks to Craig, Nicole and Billy, for the many hours of support.

“Saturday went well with 11 different groups appearing form Gunnedah, Coolangatta, Sawtell, Maclean, Yamba, Coffs Harbour and Grafton.

“The combined Jam sessions sounded great with over 160 people playing their Ukes and singing 50s and 60s music.

“The Rock and Roll dance on Saturday night had a good crowd attend with everyone up and dancing the night away,” she said.
