A wonderful day was had last Wednesday with 60 ladies all vying for the lovely prizes generously donated by Helen Hopwood and Gai Leeson for our 4BBB Stableford event. With the combination of some very hot pairings, the competition was fierce and the scoring no different. Carol Toms and Kathy McMullan took out first place with a fantastic 46 (25/21) Stableford points. Carol played some awesome shots, especially with the smoking hot driver, and was rewarded with 4 x three-pointers. Kathy acquitted herself well with many A Grade standard shots and was especially strong around the Greens. Kathy recorded 2 x four-pointers with pars on the 4th and 7th holes and 4 x three-pointers. Runners up were Eve Macpherson and Marilyn Powell on 45 (22/23) pts and 3rd went to the team of Anna Bidstrup and Julie White with 44 (18/26) pts, 4th was awarded to Liz Smith and Bev Snowdon with 43pts (20/23) on a five-way c/b. Fourteen balls were given to a score of 41pts. NTP winners were the teams of: McFarlane/McLaughlan (1st), Manahan/F. Martin (6th), Shanley/Townsend (10th) and Rowles/Shand (17th). The event was the qualifier for the 2017 Ann Bawden 4BBB Match Play Knockout series which saw the top 16 pairs, of the 20 pairs that indicated their wish to qualify, head into Round 1 on Monday of this week. Last Friday’s Stableford event was sponsored by the Greenhouse Salon and we thank Jemma for her much appreciated and ongoing support of our ladies’ golf. With a field of 29 starters, we again saw some great scores returned. A c/b was required to determine the overall winner, with Gai Leeson, getting the nod over Bev Snowdon on 40pts. Div 1 winner was Elaine Shand with 38pts, Jan Patterson took the r/ up prize on a c/b from Noeline Smith with 37pts Div 2 winner was Bev on 40 from Sue Byrnes with 39pts and Kay Eccleston placed third with 37pts on a c/b. Six balls were awarded to a score of 34pts on a c/b. NTP winners of the Good Intent Hotel sponsored holes were Liz Fisher (6th) and Gai Leeson (17th). The 13 Saturday ladies were greeted by a very pleasant cooler autumn morning for their Stableford competition. Sonya Baker put together a well-constructed round of 37pts to take the win on a c/b. For the second time in as many days, Noeline Smith was on the back end of the c/b and received the bridesmaid’s prize. Marianne Mannell is also firing at the right time, and took third place with 35pts Balls were awarded to Shirley Goodger and Carol Toms with Marg Hopkins claiming the Grafton Motor Group sponsored NTP on the 1st. The Monday 9-hole medley players have started their season, and despite a hiccup with the weather on their planned opening day, all enjoyed a very sociable and delicious morning tea. Some very eager participants from Mark Harvison’s recent introduction to golf lessons are off to a flying start and played 3-holes on Monday of last week with all enjoying the experience. Jen and Sonya are available each Monday for any assistance that these players may require. Next Wednesday, March 22, we will be hosting the Woolgoolga golf ladies for our annual Interclub Challenge. The Stableford competition is scheduled to commence with a shotgun start at 9am. This day will be kindly sponsored by Peter Gibbons of the Bank of Queensland. Julie White
