An act of kindness

Ed,

I would like to reach out and personally thank the two amazing Victorian companies, SCHUTZ Australia (managing director Alan Barham and David Bloomer) and Cahill Transport for their extraordinary gifts of 52 IBC 1000 water tanks for our fire impacted villages of Nymboida, Dundarribin and Ewingar in Northern NSW.

These tanks were distributed to people who needed drinking water. This operation was a huge multi staged effort beginning with the Melbourne businesses who donated and then transported them to South Grafton (free of charge) where Pearson’s Transport took over the babysitting of them until Blanchard’s Transport could deliver them on site.

In our hour of community need you were there for us and I know the people who received these tanks are beyond grateful for the donations.

The Clarence Valley was the worst fire impacted region between Port Macquarie and Tweed Heads with 2 lives lost, 167 houses burnt down and 1.3 million acres cremated.

What has shone through during our ‘Scorched Summer’ is the extraordinary giving from our community and those far way who have gone above and beyond to directly assist us. It is these acts of kindness that bring us hope and remind us of our strength of spirit during our natural disasters.

You legends, thank you!

Cr Debrah Novak, Clarence Valley Council
