All welcome at Lawrence croquet

Croquet was played Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday last week, with excellent late summer weather providing almost perfect conditions on the courts.

Tuesday was a lovely sunny day and six members played well contested games, with not much between the players. Pam, using very rapid footsteps involving a hop, skip and jump, performed an improvised jig to avoid being hit by an opponent’s ball. Maggie shot two hoop to hoops and Robyn managed two jump shots.

On Thursday, two courts were filled with players and good, energetic games were enjoyed by all.

We were privileged once again to have the young adults from Wesley Mission to try their hand at playing croquet. The visitors thoroughly enjoyed their time on the courts and thank you to the members who assisted with tuition.

Sunday had a good roll up of players. Esmae performed four jump shots, which I believe may be a record for one day. Well done, Esmae. Joy and Ann each shot a hoop to hoop.

Croquet is played each Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings commencing from 8am, and Monday afternoons, commencing at 4pm, at the Lawrence Golf and Sports Club. Dinner is available at the clubhouse following Monday twilight games. For further information please contact Robyn Venables on 0492 889 903.
