A new ambulance station for the Iluka community is making great progress with the first concrete pour for the building’s foundations just completed, Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis reports.

“Since June, award-winning builder Bennett Constructions has undertaken in-ground works, services upgrades, and foundations for the new station,” Mr Gulaptis said.

“The building will now start to take shape with steel and lightweight framing about to go up.”

Mr Gulaptis said the new station would be a permanent living monument to the tenacity and unity of the Iluka community which campaigned long and hard for the new station despite being too small a village to qualify under the usual bureaucratic criteria.

“When I bought Nationals Leader John Barilaro to Iluka to meet the Ambulance Action Group, they hit it off straight away and the rest is history,” Mr Gulaptis said.

The solar powered station will have internal parking for up to four emergency ambulance vehicles, administration and office areas, staff amenities, logistics and storage areas, relief accommodation, staff parking and an internal wash bay area.

Construction works continue to be managed in line with the latest Public Health Orders.

The new station is on track and expected to be operational in early 2022 after commissioning works have been completed.
