A new member, Nola Baker, was warmly welcomed at the recent meeting of the Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary.
Treasurer Rita Nutt gave a report on the State Conference held last month at which the resolutions discussed at the last meeting were presented and most passed. Maclean was awarded two certificates, one for raising over $50,000 during the past year and one for raising over $500 per member.
Two representatives from the Vintage Car Club, Bob and Laurie, presented a cheque for $1200 to the auxiliary. This money was raised from gate takings and stalls at their Swap Meet at Maclean Showground in September. A donation of $500 was received from Fred and Chris Kratz $1000 from the Community Choir and $100 from the Brooms Head Sunshine Club. Thank you to all these generous people.
Yvonne Hughes, the Hospital Bingo organiser, wishes to thank all her volunteers for their help as well as the following people: the patron for support and donations, Maclean Variety Meats for their weekly donation, Ken and staff at Stanfords Pharmacy for a weekly donation, Steve and staff at Maclean Services Club for use of the club plus assistance and donations, the Clarence Valley Independent for publishing the Bingo roster every week. Bingo is played every Thursday at Maclean Services Club from 9..30am to 11.30am. Free morning tea is provided and it’s lots of fun with plenty of prizes. All money raised goes towards purchasing equipment for Maclean District Hospital.
The next fundraising event will be a stall at the Maclean Markets on Saturay December 14 for which members are asked to supply goods to sell. There will also be a stall at the McMarkets day on Saturday January 4 and a Garage Sale on Saturday January 18 at 50 The Mainbrace in Yamba. Members are asked to deliver goods to sell on Friday January 17 between 2.00pm and 4.00pm.
