Grafton CWA branch held our monthly meeting in our Duke Street rooms with 16 members in attendance, and three apologies were accepted.
Business arising included a report on the North Coast AGM held on October 16 at Saint Mathews church hall. Grafton branch won six trophies. They are as follows: Best report by a branch; International Doll; International Book; Cultural Book; Publicity Book; Agricultural & Environmental Book. Congratulations to all our winners.
On Jacaranda Thursday Grafton CWA revisited a long-time tradition in our rooms, serving Devonshire morning teas, followed by a light luncheon of sandwiches, cakes, tea, coffee, and cold drinks. We also had on sale cakes, scones, biscuits and muffins. Raffle tickets and some handicraft was also sold. As this was a successful event, we wish to advise our customers that this will be an ongoing event, and we will provide this service at the 2020 Jacaranda Festival. Thank you ladies for all your cooking and decorating our rooms with lovely purple table cloths, runners, serviettes and flowers, keeping with the Jacaranda tradition.
Grafton CWA will be holding a fund-raising stall at the Grafton showground markets on Saturday November 16. Our ladies have already been very busy cooking small and medium Christmas cakes, home-made biscuit’s, scones, and creating Christmas handicraft. Our raffle is a lovely Christmas cake made by our member June Neilly and was beautifully decorated by Julia Cook. Thank you to both these ladies for their contribution.
Our major raffle which we have been running for the “Drought Relief Disaster Fund “will be drawn on Saturday November 16, and all winners will be contacted by phone by our treasurer.
Next meeting will be held Friday December 13 in our CWA rooms Duke Street with morning tea at 9.30am followed by our meeting at 10am. Ladies interesting in joining CWA are welcome.
Handicraft mornings are held in our rooms in Duke Street, every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 9.30am, you will be welcomed to join us.
