Yamba ladies feature at Sawtell

Our very welcoming group of nine-holers play each Wednesday morning. You can contact the Pro Shop if you’d like to give it a try. It’s a perfect way to be introduced to the game or for those unable to manage 18 holes.

Last week, we had 11 ladies playing in Single Stableford format on the back nine. Terri Collingburn had a cracker of a round with a result of 17 points (c/b). Colleen Bamback also scored 17 points and came in r/up. Lyn Ford had a great shot on the 17th hole and took out the NTP prize.

Wednesday was the 5th GNSW Medal round and 8th monthly medal. Smoke, wind, cool temperatures and drizzly rain didn’t deter the 43 ladies who participated.

A Grade results (0-22) were as follows: nett winner – Sandra Wallace (72); gross winner – Jennifer Fagan (87); nett r/up – Jennifer Fagan (76) and A Grade and best overall putting – Kathy Parker (29 c/b).

B Grade (23 – 30): nett winner – Jenny Dewar (70); gross winner – Jane Bonner (98); nett r/up – Jane Bonner (73) and putting – Jane Bonner (31).

C Grade (31 – 45): nett winner – Gail Scobie (71); gross winner – Gail Scobie (102); nett r/up – Irene Williams (75) and putting – Kay Caller (30).

Monthly medals were awarded to: A Grade – Sandra Wallace; B Grade – Jenny Dewar; C Grade – Irene Williams.

Our sponsored NTP were won by: Sandra Wallace (Yamba Medical Centre – 3rd); Toni Elliott (Yamba Florist – 2nd shot 3rd); Jenifer Moody (Leonie May Millinery – 2nd shot 9th); Maiva Burnham (Yamba Fair Butcher – 10th); Jennifer Fagan (The Shoe Boutique – 12th); Lyn Rowland (Clovelly Fashions – 17th) and Lesley Love (The Block – 2nd shot 17th). Phyllis Telfer won the free lesson with John Wright, club Pro.

We played Single Stableford format for the 36 ladies who participated last Friday. Thankfully, the smoky skies cleared once the breeze came up and we were treated to a clear, but gusty day. Our clear winner was Daphne Hinshaw who had a blistering score of 44. The 1st and 2nd r/up, Margaret Solomon (38) and Sandra Russo (37), also came in with strong scores.

Many thanks to our listed NTP sponsors and congratulations to winners: Jennifer Fagan (Flots and Jets – 3rd); Lesley Love (Valley Finance and Melt Massage and Beauty – 2nd shot 3rd and 12th); Di Sweetman (Peter Campbell Physio – 2nd shot 9th); Sandra Wallace (Kitchen To Table – 10th); Janine Zietsch (Beachside Bargains – 17th) and Olivia Evans (Yamba Pharmacy – 2nd shot 17th).

Saturday players had perfect playing conditions. Gail Scobie had a strong round, scoring 36pts, and r/up on c/b was Kathy Parker. Jennifer Fagan took the NTP.

Results from the Match Play KO to date are: Helen Collins/Robyn Brockwell d Gayle Stanfield/ Jenny Muir. Helen and Robyn will play the winner of the match between Sandra Russo/Ann Schuhmacher v Jo Simmons/Sue Wilson.

Well done to Jo Simmons, Sue Wilson, Noni Rixon and Julie Vernol who came away with fantastic results at the Swing Into Spring Sawtell Tournament. All four featured prominently in the prize winners’ list which is a great result.
