The Yamba Rotary Club’s Tim the Bream Yamba Fishing Classic is over for another year. Event organiser Gayle Doe said that the numbers were up on last year with over 600 fishermen registering for the event. This year’s event was better than last year,” Mrs Doe said. “Unfortunately the weather was a bit windy, but it didn’t deter the fisherman from getting out there. “None of the tagged fish were caught, but all the prizes for the heaviest of species caught, were won. “The overall winner for the weekend was Scott Butler of Gold Coast who weighed in the biggest bream, with a length of 395mm. Scott also weighed in the biggest number of bream for the weekend. “We’d like to say a big thanks to the Clarence Valley Council for sponsoring us. Also all the bait and tackle stores and sponsors: BP The Bait Place, Yamba Bait and Tackle, The Marina Boat and Tackle and Reel Time Charters, Ben’s Marine and Adams Marine, BCF Grafton and All About Camping at Yamba, The Blue Dolphin and Yamba Chamber of Commerce. “We’re looking forward to next year when it will be on again – bigger and better.” For an exclusive interview with ‘Tim the Bream” see page 2.
