Yamba’s Robyn McPherson honoured

After a rained out mixed bowls on Tuesday it was good to see the sun shining and at last a game of bowls uninterrupted by showers.

17 ladies fronted to enjoy the conditions with the winners for the day being M. Stone and M. Jenner d J. Madden, W. Ballantyne. In other games P. Chilcott (swinger), V. Terry, C. Ritale were defeated by P. Chilcott, S. Hill (v), H. Atkinson in a close game.

Pairs again and another close one with L. McLean, G. Davis narrowly defeating P. McKenna, K. Mason, and V. Beddow, S. Gill d M. Pearson, L. Duncan.

Our semi-finalists in the Major/Minor Pairs will now play off next Thursday June 2 by mutual agreement. Looking forward to what will be entertaining games in that one.

Handicap Fours are now open, and entries can be made at the cash box. Closes June 9. Play Saturday & Sunday June 18 -19.

Our President Bev’s special day is on June 30. Cost of lunch and morning tea is $15 to be paid to Joan after entering your name on the sheet on ladies’ board. Green fees as per usual procedure on the day. Come along and make this day special for a very deserving President.

Members wishing to nominate for position on Committee – forms are available on the ladies’ board -to be completed and handed to Secretary Joan. AGM is on Monday July 11.

And lastly but definitely not least – proud to report that our Robyn McPherson received TWO special awards at District President Denise McLachlan’s Presidents Day hosted by Yamba last Monday May 16.

Robyn has worked tirelessly for our District and Club over many years and has also starred on the greens at all of State, Regional and Club levels.

For her efforts Robyn received a Merit Pin from State Representative Sue O’Keefe and also a 5 Year Service Award from our District presented by District President Denise.

Couldn’t think of a more deserving recipient of these awards. Robyn – you are a true champion, and your awards were the icing on the cake of a truly wonderful day for our District President Denise.
