Whale of a time for Surfing the Coldstream Festival

Capture   Wooloweyah resident Dianne Ellis took some pictures of a humpback whale mother and baby “frolicking just metres from Angourie Headland” last week. Ms Ellis also took some video of the whales, which will be “added to some very special surfing footage to be screened at the Surfing the Coldstream Short Film Festival” at 7pm this Friday October 16 at the Yamba Cinema. The film festival is being billed as the “gala opening” of the Surfing the Coldstream Festival and will screen “short films created by film-makers reflecting local themes, including stories that highlight the surfing and Aboriginal cultures that are intrinsic to the quality of life for locals, and which attract visitors to this region”. Aboriginal singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Blakboi, who uses loops, decks, drums, keys, guitars, voice and didgeridoo to create his music is performing at the short film festival, too. Listen to his music at Triple J Unearthed. Tickets are limited, so book now at the cinema.
