Vehicle crashes in Yamba

Crews from Yamba Fire and Rescue 510 Station attended the scene of a serious single vehicle accident in Melaleuca Drive, Yamba, shortly before 6am on June 26.

A Toyota Hilux had been travelling east when the driver lost control on a right-hand corner.

The vehicle subsequently rolled a couple of times, sustaining extensive damage, before coming to rest on its side against some large trees.

The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene following the incident.

Crews from Yamba Fire and Rescue 510 Station were able to contain the scene, with two members in breathing apparatuses deployed with a charged line of 38mm hose for fire protection.

It is alleged the vehicle was stolen and investigations are continuing.
