Tragedy on Big River Way

A woman sadly passed away following a two-vehicle crash in the Clarence Valley last week.

Around 5:30pm on Thursday, January 4, emergency services were called to the Big River Way at Swan Creek, 10km north of Grafton, following reports of an incident involving a truck and car.
The driver of the car, a 65-year-old woman, tragically passed away at the scene.

Her passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the semi-trailer, a 36-year-old man, was uninjured.

Following the incident, he was taken to Grafton Base Hospital (GBH) for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to the Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report is being prepared for the information of the coroner.
