Yamba Bowling Clubs Tournament season concluded with the playing of both the Bob Ware Memorial Triples and the Yamba Mixed Pairs over the past weekend.
Saturday December 3 saw the Bob Ware Memorial Triples being played with a field of 24 teams partaking over three rounds before a winner could be determined
The successful team came from the Yamba Bowling Club with Greg Johnson, Col Lindsay and skip Graham Meany managing to win all their games to take out this year’s event; second was the team from Iluka Bowling Club featuring I Brown, B Caldwell and F Mayoh, whilst rounding out the top three was another Yamba team made up by Steve Farrar, Dave Beaumont and Rob Millyan.
The Yamba Mixed Pairs tournament was held on Sunday December 4 with the winners Barb Backshall and Steve Butler from the Yamba Club leading home a capacity field of 36 teams. Following closely behind was another Yamba team of Julie & Dave Beaumont who finished only three points behind the winners.
The weekend proved to be a successful one for Dave Beaumont in particular when he managed to be amongst the prize winners on both days. Third in the Mixed Pairs was another husband-and-wife side from Yamba, Dave & Helen Atkinson
A very special thanks to all the Yamba Bowling Clubs volunteers, Don & Gabby Freeman, Julie Coulter, Marion McBey, Cheryl & Maz Mazoudier, Lois Duncan, Judy Prior & Wendy Ballantyne who contributed so much to making this tournament weekend a big success
This coming Saturday, December 10 we will be holding our annual bowlers happy ham day with a game of bowls commencing at 1pm followed by the drawing of over 20 hams to be won by those bowlers lucky enough to do so
If Yamba bowling members have not done so already you have until 4.30pm this Thursday afternoon (December 8), to do so.
