South Services Bowls

The jackpot pairs results for Thursday 19 winners were on Rink 6 G Ireland and R Orr, with the losers also on Rink 6, B Kenny and R Wilkin. The best resting toucher was H Cross at 1:37, the free games this week go to A McGill and K Garner and the jackpot did not go off so will be at $130 for this week. Championship results for last weekend: Saturday in B Grade – J Gaddy d D James; P Madden d P Wilkie. A Grade – two great games of bowls with both results going down to the wire, B Nichols d M Myers (31-30); A McGill d I Knox (31-30). Two pairs games also on the day saw K Salter, R Wilkin d H Cross, I Reid and the other pairs game M Aspery, R Shoebridge d R Lumsden and D Blair. A funny thing happened during this game, Rick played a great bowl to get a resting toucher and Dave (who normally does not play skip) must have had a bit too much pressure on him and ended up marking the kitty instead of the bowl (good one Blairy). On Sunday the fours final saw Al Kilduff’s team of D Blair, J Fisher and A McGill too good for B Kenny’s team of D James, J Gaddy and M Aspery to become 2016 Champions. Other games on Sunday saw M Myers and I Knox d G Kedzlie and R Cornell. Jed Scott progressed further in the B Grade beating Peter Madden. Thanks to all markers. This Saturday 28, we have our Pennants Appreciation day and we will have two games of ten ends starting about 11am with lunch at approximately 1pm. You may play either the morning game or afternoon game, or both wish… ever suits, all members welcome club shirt only. After a clean-up in our locker room I came across some old meeting minutes, photos etc. While going through these I found an old registration form for Jack Gaddy and on it his date of birth year was 1994, for a bloke who is only 22 years old he looks awfully close to 60 plus. Raffles this week I Knox, B Shea and B Worthy. Garry Ireland
