Sharing appreciation for local support during Dignity Drive

Local organisers of Share the Dignity, an Australian charity which aims to make a difference in the lives of women and young girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and difficult circumstances by providing them with basic hygiene and sanitary products, are once again praising the sincere kindness of the Clarence Valley community for giving generously during their biannual Dignity Drive last month.

Throughout August, collection points were set up at Woolworths Grafton and Newcastle Permanent in Grafton Shoppingworld, Chemist Warehouse, Clarence Regional Library in Grafton, and Southside Pharmacy, South Grafton, to allow members of the public to donate basic personal hygiene products and sanitary items to be distributed to those in need.

After overseeing several Dignity Drives across the Clarence Valley in recent years, Carol Starkey is extending a huge thank you to the “wonderful locals” who donated so many sanitary items during the past few weeks.

“I am overwhelmed with the response,” she said.

“Thank you so much.”

In the last seven years, Share the Dignity has collected and distributed over three million sanitary products to women in need via Dignity Drives.

Describing the Dignity Drives as valuable resources for local communities, Ms Starkey said she is proud to be affiliated with Share the Dignity and to see Clarence Valley residents continue to support the organisation.

The Clarence Valley Independent will keep our readers informed of upcoming Dignity Drives.
