There will be plenty of adrenaline pumping through the veins of competitors and spectators when the Grafton Rodeo bucks into action on August 12.

Featuring an impressive line-up of 30 well-bred, professionally trained bulls, and close to 50 highly skilled riders, the event will deliver an unforgettable and electrifying experience.

Janaya Felton, co-owner of the family owned and run business J&J Rodeo, who are organising the event next month, said along with being a special community attraction which financially supports the region, the Grafton Rodeo is also a great opportunity for members of the public to learn more about the industry, and the livelihoods of the people who have been part of it for generations.

Ms Felton said crowds are rediscovering the magic of the rodeo and have also been embracing the excitement of watching bulls leap out of the chute while being awestruck by the proficiency of their riders.

“I think what’s really important at the moment is people want to go out and enjoy themselves at these events with their families,” she said.

“Our bulls are all professional athletes in tip top condition who receive the best kind of care.

“They are bred and trained to do what they do, and they love it.

“We’re really open and really respectful of the opinions of some people surrounding rodeos, and I welcome these people to come and have a chat with me.

“I invite them to come and see what we do so we can educate them on how a rodeo is run.”

Along with her husband, ex-professional bull rider Jackson Felton, Ms Felton is incredibly passionate about rodeos, and is especially pleased to see support for the industry continuing to grow.

“It’s super important we get events like the Grafton Rodeo back up and running,” she explained.

“Not just for the industry, but for all of the people and the livelihoods which depend on it.

“From the breeders and trainers to the bull riders and rodeo assistants, they all play important roles in keeping the industry going, and the industry contributes so much to local communities.

“I’m really looking forward to the Grafton Rodeo, and I’m sure we’ll welcome a huge crowd on the night.”

The Grafton Rodeo will also feature a mini bull riders’ section for riders under 12, a junior bull riding section for riders under 18, a novice section for riders progressing through the ranks, and an open section for experienced competitors.

The Grafton Rodeo will be held at the Grafton Showground.
