Responding to crises with purpose

Northern Rivers Community Funds (NRCF) recovery & resilience grants program opens 7 July

Our local community organisations are at the coal face of community need arising from a series of crises. However, despite providing important community services, many small groups fall through the funding gaps.

In response, our local Northern Rivers Community Foundation (NRCF) has raised nearly $200k for the Resilience and Regeneration Fund with the support of Portland House Foundation, the James Frizelle Charitable Foundation, and their network of donors.

Funds will flow through to a Recovery and Resilience Grants program, focused on supporting crisis recovery, and building resilience within organisations and communities.

The program opens 7 July to local not for profit community groups that have been impacted by a recent disaster, such as a flood, bushfire, or COVID-19. Funding will focus on solution-based responses to the current challenges faced.

“Our role is not only to support these organisations to survive as they recover from recent crises, but also to thrive,” says NRCF Executive Officer Emily Berry.

Not for profit groups across the 7 LGAs of the Northern Rivers are encouraged to apply for grants of $2k – $10k. Community groups or organisations may work in a number of impact areas, such as health & wellbeing, youth programs, family support, aged services or homelessness, through to conservation & environment.

The NRCF has a 15 year history of supporting small community groups and organisations that are doing inspiring work across the Northern Rivers, granting over $1.9 million to over 300 organisations and projects since 2005.

“Whilst NRCF cannot address all the issues, we continue to build supportive and lasting relationships with community organisations across our region,” said NRCF Chair John Callanan.

Applications close midnight 17 August 2020. The Application Form will be available to download from NRCF website from Tuesday 7 July. To download the program guidelines, go to www.nrcf.org.au/grants/recovery-resilience-grants-program.
