Over 1000 properties cleared as NSW bushfire clean-up accelerates

Laing O’Rourke has now cleared more than 1,000 properties as the Government-funded bushfire clean-up program continues to accelerate at pace across the State.

More than 2,000 property inspections have now been completed as clean-up teams move into 80 more areas across the State, meaning we are now active in almost all bushfire affected communities.

Managing contractor Laing O’Rourke is reminding any residents or business owners who haven’t yet registered their bushfire-damaged property that now is the time to log on to the Service NSW website or call 1800 007 539.

“If your home or business was impacted by the bushfires, it is important you register for the NSW and Federal Government’s free clean-up service as soon as possible.” said Laing O’Rourke clean-up

Project Director Paul Barrie.

“We need this to occur so we can avoid delays and plan to deliver the clean-up works as efficiently as possible.”

“If you have already registered, please check in with your friends, family and neighbours to make sure they can also utilise this free service.”

If you have not already registered and would like to be involved in the clean-up program, now is the time to visit https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/register-opt-nsw-bushfire-clean or call 1800 007 539.

In a number of LGAs, inspections have been completed with more than half of registered property owners and the continued growth in the number of inspections has enabled Laing O’Rourke to plan ahead and hire more local subcontractors to get the job done as quickly as possible.

So far, more than 95 contracts for work have been awarded, with 99% going to local or regional businesses.

This is a big win for tradies, subcontractors and small business owners across regional NSW. These contractors are providing jobs and hiring local workers, which is one really important way Laing O’Rourke and the NSW Government are continuing to help rebuild local economies across the region.

In the coming weeks, Laing O’Rourke teams will be contacting registered property owners and carrying out clean-up works in well over 300 localities across the State.

In the north of the state you may see teams working in more than 125 localities across the Armidale, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Glen Innes, Kempsey, Kyogle, Mid Coast, Nambucca, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Richmond Valley, Tenterfield and Walcha regions.
