Noel Bushell “bags” a winner at Yamba

A field of 161 golfers took to the fairways at Yamba Golf & Country Club on Thursday August 12 for the midweek Stableford event. Played in excellent weather, Noel Bushell had a day off pursuing blackfish to decimate the field with a massive 44 points and take the B Grade trophy. In second place was Simon Birchell whose impressive score of 42 points would usually be good enough to win. Third place went to Andy King with 38 points.

In A Grade, Terry Winser was the winner with 40 points followed by Nigel Holliday (39) and Mitch Brash (37).

Kevin Molloy had another impressive round of 40 points to easily win C Grade. Terry Alford and Graeme Coates each scored 37 points and were separated by countback.

NTP’s for the day: 3rd Paul Edgar 159cm, 9th Craig Penman 205cm, 10th Rex Bolte 180cm, 12th Paul Austin 134cm and 17th Harry Peacock 222cm. Sponsors were SeaFire Steak & Seafood, Peter Campbell Physiotherapist and Yamba Barber Shop. The ball rundown went down to 35 with 16 on the back nine.

Peter Brennan holds on to win

A score of 42 points was the winning score in Saturday’s Stableford event and a countback was needed to confirm Peter Brennan as the B Grade winner from Alex Holland. Darryl Hagarty filled third place with 38 points.

In A Grade, all three place getters scored 38 points. A countback saw Dylan Spagnolo win from Greig Little and Mike Grills.

Geoff Butler was the C Grade winner when his 37 points was enough to push Lindsay McDonald (36) and Ross Wilson (35) into the minor places.

NTP winners: 3rd Don Maling 130cm, 9th Dave McQueen 189cm, 10th Mark Phillips 152cm, 12th Steve Abbott 114cm and 17th Richie Carter 181cm.
