Monty Webber launches “Purple Patch” trilogy

Local author Monty Webber is holding the launch of the third book in this Purple Patch trilogy at 5pm on Thursday December 21 at the Angourie Cafe.

Signed copies of books one, two, and three of his trilogy ‘Purple Patch’ will be available for $20 each, as well as the 500 page freshly bound trilogy, for $40.

Purple Patch follows the journey of a supernatural surfboard as it changes hands repeatedly over a 25-year period, from 1963 to 1988.

The trilogy tells the story of a beautifully, hand-crafted board, made by fictional shaping guru Bobby Morris.

It soon becomes apparent the board (the Purple Patch) is a kind of charmed object, which inspires both the best and worst in people.

What starts out as a Christmas present longboard for a young girl and is begged, borrowed and stolen from countless surfers and re-shaped many times as it traverses nine different countries.

It’s involved in the shortboard revolution, a car chase, drug run, shooting and murder; before returning to Australia, where its complicated history is finally revealed.

Come along to the Angourie Café from 5pm, on December 21, to hear from Monty about what inspired him to write the trilogy and buy a book or three.
