President Ruth welcomed members and guests, to the April meeting, but as it was Easter, a few of our members, were absent for the Easter break.

Guest speaker, Rex Wiseman gave a very interesting account of the ferries in our area. It was very surprising to see how many were used in days gone by, as it was the only way to cross rivers and waterways; thank you Rex… great history.

We welcomed new member Lorraine McGrath and president Ruth presented her with a VIEW badge.

Next month is our 41st birthday, and the theme “All Things Tartan”. Get into our Scottish spirit and wear some tartan. Don’t forget to invite a friend along and join in the fun.

A reminder, the birthday celebration is on Thursday May 9 and is a week earlier. There is a morning tea and smorgasbord lunch at a cost of $30 and is held at Maclean Bowling Club, commencing 10am. Members, please bring a plate for morning tea.

Guest speaker, Alistair Smith will give a talk about the Highland Gathering; looking forward to hearing some of the history surrounding this event. Entertainment will be by Scottish vocalist, Ann Gray.

Lucky door donation by Marlene Foster and raffle donation from Val Keevers.
