Maclean Saturday Stableford

Peter Saunders sauntered round to an excellent 40 points in A Grade to be just one shot better than Hollie Fuller (a frequent visitor from Grafton); Jeff Craigie was just squeaked into third place on countback.

In B Grade the rapidly improving Tracey Johnson had a magnificent forty one points to win the day; in second place was Glen Crooks on 39 points just good enough to beat Maureen Killian on countback.

Again, the high quality of the field and scoring meant that 35 points was just not good enough for a run-down prize.

Nearest the pin on the second hole Was Jeff Hackett. Stewart McDonald was close on 7 with Cath Parker just shaving the hole on the 11th.

Bob Harvey again underlined his unerring accuracy on par three holes by being very adjacent to the 17th.

The Sanctus Brewery Thistle lager prize on the 9th was won by Paul Bambach.

Thursday Stableford

Black marker day, but sensational scores showed the course was open for plundering.

Michael McGowan took the course apart in A Grade. His 45 points was however only two shots clear of new women’s Captain Kim Wiblen.

In B Grade, Anne D’Arcy had a great day out with a winning 43 points. Michael Rice came in second with what would have normally been a winning score (40) on black marker day.

Such was the quality of the scoring that for the second week in a row 36 points was required for a run-down prize.

Nearest the pins went to Graham Millard on 2, Barry Ostrofski (Oxley GC) on 7, Brendan Payne on 11 and Leigh Wilson on 17.

Rod Smith showed his short game prowess with closest in two shots on 9.

Wednesday Skins

Two perennial offenders fought out last week’s Skins with the rest of the burgeoning field left floundering in their wake. On this occasion slow and unsteady Mick Rogers just lost out to the mercurial silver shadow Johnny Hunter. His five Skins took out the major prize. Expect a bit more effort from the rest of the field on Wednesday at 1 pm.
