Maclean Major Pairs decided

General news

Our Club Major Pairs has been decided for 2021 with a superb display of bowls played between John Nash & Jayson Pinnock against Scott Fell & Des Johnson.

The game started tight with scores locked at 3 all after 4 ends. Nash/Pinnock got out to a 10/4 lead after 9 ends but Fell/Johnson clawed back with scores locked at 12 all after 14 ends. Scott & Des were on a run and took a lead 16/12 after 17ends. After scoring a 2 on end 18 then a 4 on end 19 John & Jayson held the lead at 18/16. A 1 to Fell/Johnson on end 20 had the score at 18/17 going into the last end. After shots were traded it came down to the skips last 2 bowls with Fell/Johnson holding shot. Des first bowl narrowly missed on adding to the count, but Jayson’s 1st bowl promoted one of his own bowls 2 foot short up for shot and onto the jack. Des missed with his last bowl pushing into the head and rebounding away giving John & Jayson the championship 19/17.

All spectators and players were amazed at the quality of play throughout the match. And a big congrats to Nashy (angry ant) who has finally cracked the last championship he had never won. John & Jayson will now go on to represent Maclean at the South Area Zone Champion of Champion playoffs later in the year. Bowls NSW members, please check the noticeboard in regard to the adoption of a new constitution of our State body, also known as the Unification vote. All details are on the noticeboard.

On Wednesday April 28, social bowls will be played against the Sunshine Coast travelling bowlers. We will play 2 games x 10 ends of 2 bowl triples with a 1:30pm start. Place your name on the sheet provided.
