Community Challenge 2021

After quite a disrupted season we finally got to finals week in our competition.

After 8 rounds and 4 weeks of competition we got down to our Top 4 finalists playing for the $1500 prize pool, while the other 5 teams played off for minor prizes.

Semi-final 1 saw Pony Club up against Darts 1. Pony Club, who were previous winners two seasons ago, started strong and were never headed, scoring a 15/1 win. Semi-final 2 saw the improving Woodford Warriors take on previous season champions Netball. The Warriors started well and got to a 5-0 lead. Netball won the next 2 ends and were behind 5/2. But the Warriors were too consistent and ran out 11/2 winners.

The final was a tight encounter with scores level 3 all after 4 ends. Warriors nudged ahead on the 5th end 4/3 and on the last end Warriors were holding shot with the Pony Club still having one to play and a chance of winning. But it was the Warriors who held on to score a 1 and take the title 5 shots to 3 and secure 1st place prize of $700 for their club. Pony Club secured $400 for their club.

The 3rd v 4th playoff saw the Darts 1 team jump out to a flyer against Netball, scoring a 7 on the first end and were never headed. Darts 1 ran out resounding winners 14/0 and claimed 3rd spot and the $250 prize for their club while Netball was awarded $150 for their club.

Other minor prizes saw Clarence Valley Magpies secure 5th spot with a big 17/0 win over Darts 3 and secure free entry into next season. While the Lower Clarence Cricket Umpires team took out the Bar vouchers prize and they enjoyed them very much.

We would like to thank Margaret Stallard and Carolyn Byrum for their efforts on the BBQ during this season and we look forward to seeing all teams and some more for next season starting in September 2021.
