The Clarence Valley community have come together in support of the Clarence Christmas Bushfire Appeal, which finished on Monday December 16.
The items (which have been donated) will be distributed to the fire victims, by the Salvation Army (Salvos).
On Friday morning, the Maclean Salvos picked up the donated items from the collection point in Maclean – at the Maclean Bowling Club.
Maclean Salvos chaplain Amanda Glen said that they wished to thank the community for their kindness and generosity in donating to the bush fire appeal.
“The general community have been so generous, keeping the Aussie spirit of ‘helping out a mate’ when in trouble, that it is overwhelming,” Amanda said.
“It restores the confidence in the kindness of mankind and just goes to show what a small community can achieve when they are needed.
“To all the nameless people that donated; a heartfelt thank you.
“We would like to thank the Maclean and Yamba Bowling Clubs for providing a venue for these goods to be donated.
“We’d like to say thank you to Coles at Yamba, Bob and Judith Little at SPAR Supermarket in Maclean, the new IGA in Maclean, the 1st Maclean Joeys, Cubs and Scouts Association for their tireless effort of collecting, the Ladies Auxiliary from Lawrence who donated from their Community Christmas Carol evening and the Uniting Church in Maclean for their tireless effort of supporting the Salvos with non perishables for those in need throughout the year.
“When we all join together to help one another, no one should go without.
“As we work together, it solidifies our love and friendship for our fellow man.
“All these donations will go to the victims of the bushfires and the needy of our community,” she said.
The community is indebted to the work that the Salvos do within our community – thank God for the Salvos.
