Lotto reasons to celebrate

Emma Pritchard

An Armidale woman who has been holidaying in Yamba for more than 50 years, now has an extra special affiliation with the idyllic coastal township after purchasing a winning lotto ticket from newsXpress in Yamba Fair.

A yearly visitor to the Clarence Valley, the woman was last week revealed as a lucky winner of Division 2 in Oz Lotto’s Tuesday night draw.

She won a total of $46,712.95

Owners of newsXpress Wayne and Jo Court uploaded a post on Facebook after they were notified of the winning entry from NSW Lotteries, and said they were “really delighted” for the woman.

“She lives in Armidale and has been holidaying in Yamba with her family every year for over 50 years, so it did make the win extra special,” Ms Court revealed happily.

“When she came in and scanned her ticket, she was really shocked, and a bit teary.

“Most people get excited when they win $50.

“She has a good affiliation with Yamba, which is really nice, and I’m sure she’ll continue coming here for her holidays.”

It wasn’t the first time a winning lotto ticket for a substantial amount has been sold by newsXpress in Yamba Fair.

During the past four years the Courts have owned the business, they have sold two winning lotto tickets for $200,000 and $1.2 million respectively.
