Local football club scores Grand Final dreams

The Coutts Crossing Football Club are celebrating a stellar year on the field which has culminated in their Women’s 2nd Division team, the Coutts Crossing Coyotes, the Coutts Crossing Men’s 3rd Division team (Maroon), and the Coutts Crossing Men’s 2nd Division team (White), all progressing to their respective Grand Finals this weekend.

After finishing on top of the ladder at the conclusion of the regular season, the teams are preparing to lace up their boots and shoot for glory one final time in the biggest games of the year.

Undefeated throughout their regular season, the Coutts Crossing Coyotes will face the Westlawn Tigers in their Grand Final on September 15 at Rushforth Park in South Grafton, with the match set to kick off at 7:30pm.

The Coutts Crossing 3rd Division team (Maroon) will take on the Iluka Football Club in their Grand Final at 12:30pm on September 16 at Wajard Park in Coutts Crossing, while the Coutts Crossing Men’s 2nd Division team (White), who only lost one game during their regular season, will take to the field on the same day at 2:45pm to play Grafton United in their Grand Final.

Speaking with the Clarence Valley Independent recently, Coutts Crossing Football Club Coach Tiffany Davis revealed the plays have continued to train hard in the lead-up to the Grand Finals this weekend and are focused on achieving further success for their teams.

“It’s absolutely amazing for the club to have three teams reach their Grand Finals,” she said.

“The players are so excited, and everyone is super happy to be playing this weekend.

“The club has been working really hard to get more people interested in joining the teams and playing the game this year, especially women, and we’re really excited about what’s to come as the club moves forward.

“It’s been great to welcome more people and more players to the club.

“We’re very family orientated, and we have mothers and daughters and fathers and sons who play alongside one another in the teams, which is amazing.

“Its such an achievement to have the three teams in their Grand Finals, and that alone is an incredible milestone.

“It’s going to be a great weekend of football.”
