Jacaranda Embroidery Group Inc Life Members

During our over 50 years history, Jacaranda Embroidery Group has honoured some of our members as life members. We have in our constitution that we can have three active life members at one time.

Sadly, these wonderful women have passed away.

Joan Cardow joined in 1969 as an inaugural member doing tapestry but later did other embroidery techniques. Joan was presented with being a life member in 2003. Due to health issues Joan stopped attending the group in 2005. Joan Cardow passed away around 2011.

Joyce Green joined the group as an inaugural member in 1969. Joyce also started with tapestry but later did other techniques including surface embroidery, cross stitch and ribbon embroidery. She was Convenor of the group from 1986 to 1995 and Vice Convenor from 1985 to 2003. Joyce was presented with Life Membership in 2003. Joyce left Grafton in 2005 to retire in Sawtell. Joyce passed away about 2019 aged 90.

Joan Harrison joined the group in 1977 and specialised in cross stitch. Joan was made a life member in 2003 and stopped attending the meetings in 2005 but continued her embroidery at home. After leaving the group, Joan always attended the exhibitions. Joan passed away in 2018 at age 102. Joan was still stitching until about 6 months before her death.

We also have two current Life Members who are still very active in our group, Mrs Magda Mussared and Mrs Gwen Thompson.
