International Women’s Day

On March 8, we will celebrate International Women’s Day, a global event that recognises and honours the many achievements made by women, and the significant impact they have on society.

Not only is it a time of celebration, but it is also a time of reflection to remember the strength, courage and determination of the women who changed the course of history yesterday and campaigned for our future tomorrow.

In 2022, the theme of International Women’s Day is #BreaktheBias, which aims to bring everyone together to end gender-based discrimination and create more opportunities for equality in a world which is equitable and inclusive.

This year, International Women’s Day is encouraging people to call out gender bias and stereotyping.

Supporters of the movement are invited to post images on social media striking a pose with their arms crossed and their hands held upwards to show solidarity along with the hashtag #BreakTheBias.

In the Clarence Valley, you can help celebrate International Women’s Day by supporting our local businesswomen and thanking them for the wonderful contributions they make to our community.

The Clarence Valley Independent is looking forward to introducing our readers to some of our most inspirational local women in our upcoming edition of SCENE magazine as we recognise and celebrate their achievements and share their stories with you.

For further information about SCENE, keep a lookout in upcoming editions of the Clarence Valley Independent.
