House fire in Grafton

Emma Pritchard

A woman is continuing to recover after she sustained severe burns to her feet in a house fire last week.

At 8:20am on April 12, emergency services attended a property on the corner of Turf Street and North Street in Grafton after a mattress caught alight.

The resident was awoken by a smoke detector and managed to drag the smouldering mattress to a nearby window before removing it from the residence.

Crews from Grafton Fire and Rescue 306 Station and South Grafton Fire and Rescue 307 Station attended the scene and were quickly able to extinguish an area of fire damaged carpet and ventilate the property.

Grafton Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics also attended the scene.
