Lower Clarence community stalwart, Myra James, who has contributed thousands of dollars to local sporting and community organisations by making bags from recycled coffee bags, turns 80 on October 7.

Happy 80th Birthday Myra James

A Lower Clarence community stalwart, who feely gives of her time to raise thousands of dollars for community organisations, is celebrating a significant life achievement this Saturday, October 7 – Myra James is turning 80, Happy Birthday Myra!

For more than five years, Mrs James, who is a talented seamstress, has been collecting empty coffee bags from Botero Maclean and creating stylish, practical bags by adding her own touches with a variety of materials and colours.

Mrs James was also recipient of a 2022 Clarence Valley Australia Day award for her outstanding community contributions.

Jayc Salter of Botero said over the years that he has known Mrs James she has made hundreds of bags, which sell for $15 per bag, or two for $25, at Botero Maclean.

“I’ve known Mrs James for more than five years that she has been coming in to collect our coffee bags to make her bags,” he said.

“She is a lovely lady who is always up for a chat and through her bag sales thousands of dollars have been donated to local sporting clubs and community organisations.”

From all of the local sporting clubs and organisations that have benefited from Mrs James’ generous community contributions, and from the whole Clarence Valley community, we hope you have a fantastic celebration with your family for your 80th Birthday, and we sincerely say thank you for all the money you have raised to benefit others.
