Grafton U3A – July Jabberfest

We meet again on July 12 for another inspiring Jabberfest, with the opening session being brought to us by Stephen Timms, who will bring us all up to date with the plans for the re-vitalization of Grafton’s Prince Street.

Stephen is a strategic planner with the Clarence Valley Council and will cover the new Grafton CBD Plan and Transport Strategy and show and explain what the Council has in mind for Prince Street’s rejuvenation.

Following Stephen’s talk, Kevin Dixon will again tax our brains with another of his ‘heads and tails’ quizzes, this time on what we do and don’t know about winter should be both interesting and challenging.

After our break for morning tea, our guest speaker will be Sue Chapple.

Sue is the SES Clarence Valley Local Commander and will talk to us about the effects of large-scale weather events in the Clarence Valley with reference to the recent March flooding and the severe weather events in December last.

Sue will focus on community preparedness, NSW State volunteers, climate change now and in the future, and the Council’s flood mitigation work.

So we look forward to another great roll-up at the New Life Church in Arthur Street commencing at 10 am on Monday, July 12.

See you all there.
