Grafton Senior Citizens – September meeting

Grafton Seniors September meeting saw 52 attendees, with 9 apologies.

Sympathy: to Brian & Yvonne Hall, June & Barry Cavanagh, passing of June & Brian’s brother.

New members: welcome Barbara Smith; Russell Fitchett; Peter Hoffman; Faye Waterhouse; Ann Godwin.

Guest speaker: Christine Stephenson, from medical alert, Safe Twear, spoke on items benefits. They work like a mobile phone, with direct spoken contact to 24-hour monitoring centre. Works anywhere, not just in home, and can be worn around neck, wrist, or on a belt.

Correspondence in: letter from Clarence Valley Council; interest rates from Westlawn Investments.

Correspondence out: letter of thanks, Council grant; Richie Williamson for accepting Patron; to Tractor Shed & Fish Farm concerning recent tour; sympathy cards to Hall & Cavanagh families; letters to new members. 

 

Trips: recent 8-day tour success; Kings Plains Castle, day trip, November 17 is now full, reserves being noted; trips for next year now being considered.

Barbecue: Monday October 9, more bookings needed; will close for catering Tuesday October 3.  

Christmas lunch: Friday December 1 – bookings open, October meeting. Entertainment booked.

General business: mention of BCU new location; changes with Bigpond emails could result in system problems; new financial year self-funded retirees’ energy rebate now available through Service NSW; recent experience proves newspaper publicity is worthwhile; Netflix email scam.
