A field of 44 players greeted the starters on Sunday for a Stableford event for the 2nd round of the Grafton Motor Group Trophy. The scores were a bit lower than what I was expecting but by the same token they were very close, making for a very good competition. The best score of the day was a nice 21 points by C Grade winner Alan Atkinson closely followed Dave Lynch and Jim Corrigan with 20 points and a group of 5 players with 19, in fact you had to equal par to even get a Pro Ball, so nice golf all round. The club would like to welcome a new member, Terry Laybutt to our ranks, and to let everyone know that if you would like a game of golf in a friendly atmosphere you are very welcome to join us on any Sunday, all you have to do is put your name on the starters sheet at the GDSC on a time that suits you and turn up at the club out at the race course, the only criteria is that you must be a member of the GDSC. The Waterboys membership continues to expand with Jim Fung on the 1st and 7th along with Peter Chessell on the 5th both taking up memberships on Sunday. Welcome to the club gentlemen. Next Sunday is a Stableford event for the final round of the Grafton Motor Group trophy in conjunction with qualifying round of Single Match play Knockout – 32 players to qualify. Starters will be M Winters and G Reynolds with D Roberts and M Biggs to handle the results. February 27 and 28 will be our away visit to Tenterfield for 9 hole and 18 hole events. Sunday, March 6 will be a Stroke event for the Monthly Medal with sponsorship in memory of life member Ross Baldwin. Starters will be N Reeves and G McInerney with G Mallison and D Tasker to handle the results. Dave Lynch
