After the interesting letter from Mike Gorrie (CVI 18/1/23), I was looking forward to a reply from Clarence Valley Council letting us know what will be done to maintain the iconic old bendy Grafton Bridge.

Perhaps Chris Gulaptis will reply soon, as I think it will be a big mistake and very short sighted to let the rusty bridge fall into such disrepair it will need to be closed to all traffic.. and then removed altogether.

I really hope our council will do whatever is necessary to clean and check the structure, despite the expense. Also, as Grafton is the Jacaranda City, I would love to see the bridge re painted in a deep, rich purple (NOT mauve) instead of a boring dark grey.
