Good on you Carl!

Ed,

It was so encouraging to read your page 1 lead story (CVI 10/1/24) about the possibility of developing a wildlife corridor in the Gulmarrad area, where endangered Glossy Black Cockatoos eat and nest and other endangered species live and shelter, before it is too late!

All praise to land holder Carl Ferguson who is apparently prepared to put the environment first when considering what to do with his undeveloped land. We need more people like Carl who are not just thinking about exploiting and subdividing land for profit but are willing to consider different options, thus protecting precious old growth trees, with their hollows for nesting and sources of food, for many endangered or threatened species of fauna and flora, special to this area.

It is so heartening too that young people like Victor are prepared to put in the research and time to help protect precious wildlife corridors like this one, and to engage in a fruitful way about how these landscapes can be preserved. What a wonderful opportunity we have to have a very special area kept for ever for these beautiful birds.

The Lions Club of Clarence Environmental is very keen to see this corridor preserved and hope we can assist in some ways to help make it happen.

Our Valley is one of the most uniquely biodiverse places on the planet, where tropical and moderate climates intersect and create a special environment for hundreds of species. It is a treasure trove worthy of saving, nurturing and protecting.

So big thanks to Carl for his consideration of this special place as a sanctuary for the future. Let’s support him and Victor to make this happen!
