Floods steer Motorfest 21 to another new date

The Grafton Vintage Motor Vehicle Club has been forced to postpone their highly anticipated Motorfest 21 for a fourth time.

After the popular local event was rescheduled twice last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Motorfest 21 was scheduled to go ahead on March 27, but the recent wet weather has resulted in the club steering the event to another new date.

Motorfest 21 will now be held as Motorfest 22 on August 28 at Jabour Park in South Grafton.

President of the Grafton Vintage Motor Vehicle Club Doug Clark said everything was set for the third attempt to host the event this month, until the recent flooding occurred.

Mr Clark confirmed the ground at Jabour Park is unsuitable to host the event this weekend, leaving the club with no other option other than rescheduling.

“The ground is too wet, people can’t drive on it,” he said.

“We thought we were all set to go ahead with the event until the rain set it, and it’s really disappointing.

“Hopefully, it’s a case of fourth time lucky.”

Mr Clark said the Grafton Vintage Motor Vehicle Club also wishes to acknowledge the events sponsors, including Benny’s Smash Repairs, for their understanding following the events rescheduling.

Motorfest 22 will include a full line up of vintage and post vintage vehicles, trucks and motorcycles.

A collection of classic cars will also be on public display.

Prizes will be awarded for the best truck, best race care, best motorcycle and best hot rod.

Food and hot and cold beverages will be available on site and there will also be a raffle and lucky door prize.

Gates will open at 7am with entry via a gold coin donation.
